We developed PRIMATE, a web-based PRoject Impact MATrix Evaluation tool, to assess project conformance with social policies and standards set by international organizations. As the social reviewer for independent-engineer assessments commissioned by International Financial Institutions, we use a matrix-based approach to identify potential gaps in extractive project and company documents and practices relative to the standards, requirements and principles to which they have committed. We also recommend solutions to achieve conformance. This approach brings consistency and standardization to internal and external reviews and helps companies and funders know a project is ready to go.
